Terry Larson. The local paper of Evansville, IL wrote a full feature
length story about his handwriting analysis business. Terry is also
the most active "Internet Affiliate" earning the highest commission
check for referring people to handwriting analysis products via the
Internet. - tedbylar@sigecom.net

Hi Terry! Thanks for the analysis, which is very accurate. I've
already shown some of my colleagues and friends and they're all in
agreement about my "defiant streak" - it seems to be a well known and
accepted trademark of my personality!
I only have one criticism; in your final paragraph you say"(I might
add that you appear to be a very intelligent person)". I just
thought
that you would have mentioned that right up front in your analysis!
No, seriously, thanks once again and hopefully I'll be able to make
use of your services at some stage.
Best regards,
Andrea

**** GUEST ARTICLE ****
Introduction. If you have read my best selling book "The Secrets To
Making Love Happen" (http://myhandwriting.com/booksetc/index.html)
you
have been introduced to the form of psychology called NLP (neuro
linguistic programming.) If you have not heard of NLP, it the
evolution of hypnosis combined with body language and lot's of
self-improvement techniques. Basically, it is a set of "tools" that
assist people in making fast and permanent change in one's or the
client's lives. NLP is the foundation of what Anthony Robbins based
his first book "Unlimited Power" on. If you want to read more about
NLP, read "Frogs Into Princesses" by Richard Bandler (co-creator of
NLP)
I have used NLP in my own life since 1990. It has effected both my
relationships and business in powerful ways. If you are single, I
highly recommend you check out the NLP course I wrote for single
people. http://www.myhandwriting.com/change/sexchem.html
Below is an article written by Stan Levin, a graduate student of
HandwritingUniversity.com He is discussing how the psychological
fields of handwriting analysis and NLP can be utilized together.
Enjoy.
*** NLP and Graphology (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) ***
By Stan Levin, Guest Columnist
We tend to think of the subconscious mind as being below the level of
alert cognition; it tends to be mysterious, even to the individual
about the inner workings and motives of his or her own mind. It
turns
out that the subconscious is not as deep and inscrutable as one would
believe.
In fact, an individual's subconscious makes its presence known every
waking minute. The problem for most people is that we do not have the
biofeedback mechanisms to connect to our own subconscious. Or do we?
Individuals trained in graphology will describe the skill as "brain
writing." It is an accurate depiction of one's emotional state at
the time one provides the exemplar.
Anger, hostility, sadness, joy, happiness, introversion,
extroversion,
honesty and dishonesty, self-esteem, depth of feeling, forward
thinking or reticence, jealousy, determination, and stubbornness are
among the many qualities of a writer at the time he or she provides
a
sample. With training, one can get in touch with one's own sense
of
the moment. In fact, for experienced graphologists, one runs the
risk of analyzing one's own handwriting as one actually commits
writing to paper.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a direct pipeline to the
subconscious mind. People are totally unaware that their eye scans
indicate if they are visually-, aurally-, or
kinesthetically-oriented. They are also not aware that the
direction
of their eye scans will let an observer know that they are lying or
telling the truth, inventing or recalling. The study of NLP
includes observing people's breathing patterns, body posture, and
gestures, and how to get into rapport my mirroring or mimicking.
However, for the purpose of this article, the discussion will be
limited to eye-scans and
their relation to zones in handwriting.
There are three zones in which a letter can fall: upper
(philosophical), middle (mundane), and lower (material). The
English
alphabet has lower case letters that either remain in the middle
zone
(e.g., a, c, e, i, m, n, o, r, s, u, v, w, x), ascend into the upper
zone (b, d, h, k, l, t), or descend into the lower zone (g, j, p, q,
y, z,). The only lower-case letter that covers all three zones is
f. In totally balanced, well-organized people, the zones are all
equally weighted; ascenders and descenders are the same size as the
middle zone. Otherwise, most writers show a preference by
oversizing
and undersizing zones. Writers with large upper zone characters
tend
to be thinkers, dreamers, and people who argue from the point of
logic
and rationalization. Writers with large lower zone characters tend
to
be into money, power, sex, and deep feelings. Those who write in the
middle zone tend to be "do-ers," living in the here-and-now.
In Freudian terms, the upper zone is the super-ego, middle zone is
the
ego, and lower zone is the id. It is my hypothesis that these zones
also reflect visually learners, audio learners, and kinesthetic
learners, respectively, which, in turn, manifest in NLP-identified
eye
movements.
To relate writing zones with eye scans, imagine the eye as a face of
a
clock. If people tend to look towards the 10:00 or 2:00 position,
they tend to be visual learners. If they look towards the 9:00 or
3:00 position, that corresponds to aural learners. And eyes lowered
to the 8:00 or 4:00 position relates to feelings about the subject at
hand, and, therefore, kinesthetic learning. Very often in
eye-scanning, a person's eyes will dart in a variety of directions,
however, one may be dominant. And that may be reflected in his or
her
zone preference.
Anecdotally, there is data about the school teacher who during a
spelling bee will note that a student looks up; the teacher says,
"No, the answer is not on the ceiling. Look at me and spell the word
correctly." The student freezes and cannot spell anything. The
teacher is missing the point; for that student, the answer is indeed
on the ceiling and he or she is trying to visual the shape of the
letters. By forcing the student to look straight ahead, the teacher
is misdirecting the native instincts of the student into an area in
which he or she may never find an answer.
For writers who live with their feelings, there tends to be a
correlation of the number of times in which they look down as they
describe an event and the imagination and emphasis they put in their
lower zones. Talkers tend to be middle zone writers, with their eyes
moving left and right in the same plane as their ear canals. And
people who respond to visual imagery, who tend to look upwards as
they
recall an event, tend to be upper zone writers.
Individuals will communicate through their language if they are eye,
ear, or "feeling" people. They will say words like "I see what you
mean" and "I imagine that" to indicate visual orientation; "I hear
you" and "Sounds good to me" indicate aural; "I feel that" or "It
hurts me to tell you" or President Clinton's pet phrase, "I feel your
pain" indicate kinesthetics.
There are enough data to demonstrate the relationship between the use
of language and the orientation of the eye scan. Right now my data
are anecdotal about the relationship between eye scan and zones.
However, the data that I have are compelling. By observation, I
have
noted that movie stars and major athletes tend to have large lower
zones (other than their initial capital letters of their names which
tend to be very exaggerated). Watch them on TV interview shows, they
tend to look down as they respond to hosts questions.
Pop psychologists misinterpret this pattern as inherent shyness.
Astronauts and professors tend to have large upper zones. On
interviews and talk shows, they tend to look upwards. Oddly enough,
teenage girls tend to have large middle zones, and they tend to be
influenced by what they hear and say. Their eyes dart left and right
in answering questions; educators attribute this eye movement to
their
fear of making eye-contact, but I believe that they are listening to
their own (or parents') voice before they respond.
Among the reasons I have for writing this article is to collect more
information. If readers have, or can make their own observations,
please let me know if you can confirm or refute a relationship
between
writing zones and eye movements. The test is simple: get a writing
sample from a subject, then ask the subject to talk about what he or
she wrote. Look for the zone of influence in the writing. If the
writer is Upper Zone, do the eyes go upwards as if the writer is
trying to visualize the paper and content? If the writer is middle
zone, does the writer's eyes track left to right as if they are
hearing the text? If the writer is lower zone, does his or her eyes
look down as if he or she is trying to recall the feelings conveyed
in
the sample?
If my hypothesis proves to be valid, then a graphologist has
additional means of understanding the writer of the subject text,
building rapport, and speaking to the writer in terms most
comfortable
for him or her. In addition, the correlation gives the person with
a
trained eye another means to raise the subconscious to the conscious
level.
